Why do Australian Special Forces use the M4? Why do the Australian Special Forces use the M4 over the Aus Steyr? I need reason besides the M4 being able to have more options for modification. Sounds good. I think I get the picture. Maybe the Aussie Army should replace all over the Aus Steyr's with M4's! ^_^
Tattoos in Australian Special Forces? I want a career in the australian special forces but ive heard you cant join if you have tattoos? On my belly i have "MAYHEM" like tommy lee and a sun around my belly button. Ive had alot of different responses but I really need answers from someone who knows first hand or of someone who is in special forces and has tattoos. ive already called the recruiting line but they only quoted what was on the website. Thanks in advance
Officers in Australian Special Forces? I was wondering if Officers in the Aussie Army are able to serve their entire career in the Special Forces or if they are only able to serve for as long as their posting, until they need to be some where else. Any help would be appreciated as long as it's coming from someone who knows what they are talking about. Thanks. So basically, an Officers only spends a few short postings in the regiment if they are invited back. Most of their time will be spent outside of the regiment? Thanks very much F!GJAM. Greatly appreciated.
Australian special forces in police? Hi, wanting to go around the world and jump out planes, be considered elite and be presented with challenge's, train with other elite units and do some extraordinary policing and special operations work, but want to work for the AFP (Federal police, Australia) or another Australian police force. Are there any units in there like that and if not give me some names of units close enough. Also i want to be in touch with the answerer's so i know what it's like. THANKS 4 the help!!!

Where does Indian and Australian special forces stand in being the best special forces? i have always wondered where indian and australian special forces stand? my indian and Australian friends argue that their special forces is the best... who are the best out these? Does indian special forces actually have a chance in Special opertaions? i doubt the indian special forces because they lost 2 men when battling terrorists.......but i still respect them though.. they have guts, bravery and sprit conquering one of the roughest battlegrounds in the world...Siachen Glacier for my indian friends Jai Hind!
How do you rank the Australian Special Forces, compared to the Brits & US SF? Just curious as to how the rest of the Military world view the Australian Special Forces, ie, SAS, 4RAR (4 Royal Aust Reg Cmdo), 3RAR (3 Royal Aust Reg Para). I know the brits who are often considered the best SAS in the world would contest their place, but their Royal Marines, although far superior to the USMC would not surpass the Australian Cmdo 4RAR. Does it depends entirely upon terrain & climate or the specific role they undertake. I struggle to see how any foreign Special Forces could surpass the Australian SAS in long distance desert terrain or Jungle War fare with 4RAR Cdo after seeing some of their training regimes and survival measures in Australias Top End. The USMC although good as general enlisted are certainly not Special Forces.
What sort of things do you do in the australian special forces? Hi, im 15 and i live in victoria, Australia. Ive just recently began thinking of what it would be like 2 be in the australian special forces. My dad was in the army for 6 years.. Buh id just like 2 know, What kind of things do they do? is it good pay? Is it as life threatening as ppl say? And the training & requirements involved? You see im fascinated by the whole surviving in many different surroundings, the expertise in weaponry & bombs or something & yeah. thankyou for taking the time to answer my question :D
Australian Special Forces Question? Which Aus Special Forces sees the most combat and which one is most involved in anti-terrorism like rainbow six sort of thing?(I know its not all like that but you know what i mean)
Asthma and Australian Special Forces? I am currently studying at university but when I finish (in 5 years) I was thinking of trying out for the direct entry special forces scheme in Australia. I was diagnosed with excercise induced asthma some years ago (i am now 18). I am quite fit and run regularly, buthave started to train more vigorously recently for when i finish uni and try to join. I think my asthma may be holding me back a bit at the moment, i feel like i am not getting enough air when i am training. It is winter at the moment i know the cold doesnt help. Despite this i have been trying to train without an inhaler. My main question is, if I continue to train in this way will my asthma go away/be greatly reduced by the time that I am thinking of enlisting (4-5 years from now)? if not, would the defence force allow a recruit to use an inhaler say at the beginning of the day? (my guess is no way!) Any other tips to reduce the effects of mild asthma? want to stress that my condition is MILD thanks
Is this true? this poor eyesight is ok to get into special forces? "Eye sight cannot be worse than 20/40 in one eye and 20/70 in the other eye and must be correctable to 20/20." ->well this means a guy with that poor eyesight can get into the navy seal wearing glasses !? Is that true? Then how about australian special forces? Do you mean then when a candidate fails the vision test, then he gets the opportunity to get eye surgery?
I'd like to join the australian special forces? Hi, im 15, and im thinking of joining the army to be in the special forces once i finish yr 12. I heard it was one of the hardest things a man can do, and it involves the best of the best to pass.. i'd like to know everything about what they do and the type of missions especially? And if i really have any chance? Last by not least, my mum keeps telling me how the army can stuff you up in the head, is that neccesarily true? thankyou for taking the time to answer my question :D
Australian Special Forces? I want to be in the military when im older and am seriously considering the sf. Im farely athletic (good at running but bad at swimming) and am good academically. I know there is direct entry for Commandos but not for the sas. Can anybody help me?
SAS (British Special Forces) compared to SASR (Australian Special Forces) thank you. (:? Hey, Don't worry I am not posting one of those stupid how do I join the SAS/SASR questions, What I am wanting to know is: - Are the as prestigious as the British SAS - Do they basically have the same training format - What are the main differences between them (apart from their different country's). - Do they use the same tactics as the British SAS - Do they mostly operate in 4 men teams (if known) Please answer as many of those questions that you know of the CORRECT answers. Thanks
The Life of a SASR Australian Special Force? How much money do they get? What are their rewards and benefits? How much do they have to train? How much time of work do they get? What is the usual day in a life of a SASR Australian Special Force Soldier? What type of missions do they go on? What type of people are they or i should say how are there Personalities? Are they one of the best in the world? And are their missions all clandestine like all top secret and they go into a mission undetected and silent? All these Questions would help THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!!

How do Danish and Norwegian special forces? compare to say US or British or Australian or Israeli special forces. Ive read that Danish special forces have served in both Iraq and Afghanistan. Must be good enough. And that Norwegian special forces were so proficient at their duties they receieved a medal from Bush. Do you think combat missions in afghanistan show the true test of Danish and Norwegian special forces?

I want to Join Special Forces...Advice? I'm 18 turning 19 in a few months. I just completed a personal tranining course but it seems like something people do after they have done something with their lives. I am extremely fit, 175cm (5'9") 75kg (165lbs), can bench press 125kg (275lbs) 6 times, leg press 400kg (880lbs) 6 times, run 100m in under 12 seconds and run 6km in around 20 odd minutes or so. I am interested in Joining the Australian Special Forces unit but am unsure if the 4 year committment is too much. Any advice?
Talking to parents about special forces ambition.? Hey guys, I am a teenager who is interested in joining the Army special forces, but I don't know how to tell my parents. There are a few problems. I brought it up a few years ago after playing Call of Duty (I was younger) and I don't want to come off as a LARPer who wants to be a supersoldier. Also, it is a little embarassing to talk about special forces dreams to your mum right? dad would freak out though. Also, I am quite skinny for my age, but I'm at a gym. Does anyone know about the fitness requirements for the australian special forces/?
What happens if I go through vision test for special forces? My right eye is 20/20 but left one is about 20/40. I want to get into australian special forces( sas, if not, commandos). What happens when I attend medical assessment and go through vision test? Do they subsidise me for eye surgery and then I get into the SF training? Or do I need to have eye surgery before enlistment and then reapply for it? How about regualr army infantry for me? And what is the vision standard for 3rar?
Who Are The Best Special Forces In The World? Who Are The Best Special Forces In The World ? British and Australian SAS & SBS ? P.S People are saying this is a pointless question, well if thats how you feel don't answer it and jog on ! I want to know who you think is best, and not all can be the best !
Whats the best Special Forces? Special Air Service (SAS) Special Boat Service (SBS) United States Marine Corps )USMC) Special Forces Support (SFSG) Australian Special Air Service (ASAS) United States Navy Seals Spetsnaz Is there Anymore
Why is it that people always overlook the smaller countrys special forces? Most experts regard the British SAS to be the most elite all round special forces unit yet they (the Birtish SAS) admit that there smaller commonwealth cousins special forces are easily just as good if not better e.g. The New Zealand NZSAS whom a tiny force of just 160men have been believed to be resposible for capturing or killing up to 2000 Al Queada in Afganistan with no casualties and only 2 woundings or the Australian SASR whose desert fighting skills are so highly recognised among the SEALS and Delta Force in Iraq. Is it that all these units are at such a high level of expertise in what they do that basically you can't get any better and so for the bigger units are the ones whom get the recognition?
Is anyone famliiar with the Indonesian special forces Kopassus? Are they aware the train regularly with Australian and British SAS, have regular guest instructors from the FSB and many have completed Green Beret and Rangers courses in the US? Aussie and British special troops have served incognito in Irian Jaya, East Timor, Flores, Maluku and Aceh? Have via Singapore trained 2nd hand with Israeli forces for counter-Islamic operations? Considered to be the best Special forces in Asia region- China and North Korea excluded? Served many in nations/conflicts alongside US and British often disguised as Gurkha's (they look very similar to Nepalese and can pass for Latinos)? Have a kill list of over 35,000 Acehnese Islamicists and other assorted nationalities involved in promoting Arabic-funded jihad and Islamification efforts of a nationalist secular nation- for Aceh alone? Anyone? Hello?
How does the Australian Defence Force stack up against other armed services? I was wondering about the efficacy of the Australian Army. I have been told it's pretty good, but I haven't really heard much to suggest that it's any better than British or U.S. troops. I'm especially interested in Special Forces etc. and how the elite army divisions would compare to the U.S. Army Rangers or Marine Corps or whatever. Thanks
Which is the best special forces unit in the world? I've always heard ghurka's but Im talking by wilitary action, not just reputation. This is taking into account the british, NZ and Australian SAS, the navy seals, airborne rangers, British commandos, foreign legion, ISDS, etc... The best in both reputation and active duty record. Even if you think Mossad or hamas, or some othe unit. So far I'd be inclined to agree with the sas. Most special forces mimic them. I have watched The SAS story with Andy Mcnab. The SAS had its origins shortly before Pearl Harbour and was founded on secrecy. Im talking efficiency when it comes to the best. The SAS have had many theatres since, the Jebel, Yemen, Malaysia, and proven themselves. The FFL are an elite force in the way they train and work.
The Australian Defence Force Please Help me? I live in Australia and i am interested in the Australian Army... Are they Australian Arm Snipers Good? What is the best route to go in if you want to try out for special forces.. Is the Australian Navy Good? Are the Navy Clearance Divers Good
Austalian Special Forces.? Do the Australian special forces see deployment right after they have finished their training? Or is all training for little deployment? Thanks in advance.
Is it possible that an Australian Army senior officer be deployed to Afghanistan if he's 57, and also..... he's scheduled to have knee arthroscopy next week ? ( a non-invasive knee surgery, he doesn't know what his doctor will find out ). I asked this question a short time ago, but now his medical procedure came into the picture. He assured me that this arthroscopy will not affect his deployment to Afghanistan in November or December, he says he'll be with Special Forces. He's 57, going through knee arthroscopy, and he says he'll be deployed soon and will join Australian Special Forces..... I think this guy is a lying to me, and after this arthroscopy, he'll be deployed to his home once and for all. I know for sure he's a Major, but I think he's a lying machine too, what do you think ?.
Do Americans realise there was a time in WW11 when US Forces Served under Australian Command ? Not a well known fact, but true! a few Divisions of US Army operated under Australian Command in France. Although a different story in the South Pacific, where the entire operation was eventually controled by the US. In other theatres of War, Australian Command and Forces have actually trained US Forces. Also not very well publicised is the fact that the Australian SAS were the FIRST Special Forces in Iraq, not the Marines, or the Seals, or Rangers or anyone else! I'll get back with the Command Specifics in France, where US operated under Aussie Command, also later we trained the US in both Desert and Rainforest terrain, so common here in Australia and our part of the world.
In Australia, what is the best Special Force? I want to join an Australian Special Force. But first I would like to know what forces there are in Australia for a start. So my question there is: What Special Forces are there in Australia? Second, I would like to know what is the one most simular to the US Marine Corps. So my question there is: Which of those Australian Special Forces are the most simular to the US Marine Corps? Third, I would like to know which of those Australian Special Forces that you listed at the start are the are the ones that mostly help the Australian army. So my question there is: Which of the Australian Special Forces that you listed at the start mostly help the Australian army? And finally, I would like to know which Australian Special Force that you listed at the start is the the best and main. So my question there is: Which Australian Speacial Force that you listed at the start is the best and main?
Will the Australian Defence Force bring back the SF direct entry scheme? Hi, i was joining the army and i was told that i cant get in because im on a good behavior bond till 2010 and they told me i cant get in untill 2011, so im thinking that i should train really hard for the next 3 years and join the Special Forces straight away if they bring the SF Direct Entry Scheme back. is it worth it?
Grestest Special Forces? What do you think is/was the greatest special forces in the world and why? Doesn't have to be current. My Pic is the Australian SAS (SASR) even the. In Vietnam they had a ratio of 500:1. The Americans called the Vietcong the ghosts of the jungle, the vietcong called the SASR the phantoms of the jungle. They have proved themselves in every conflict since. Delta is great, but they are a counter terrorist force... thats it. The SAS also does CT but does everything else aswell. From sabotage to deep recon. Whatfor2 - there is a differnece between Special Forces and what your talking about. CIA, NRO, MI6, ASIS... they're not Spec. Op. Forces.
Special Forces, the top 15? I already know the best Special Forces top 3, but who come after that? And just so you know the top three are; 1. British SAS 2. Navy Seals 3. Australian SAS Where do the Israelis stand, they are supposed to be pretty good. And no 'they are the best at this'. All round, survivability, successful operations and other citations.
Best Special Forces? SAS, SBS, Australian AUSSAS, SEALS, DELTA FORCE, RANGERS, New Zealands NZSAS, German GSG, FRENCH C.O.S, ISRAELIS, FINNISH or the South Africans... take your pick
Can I join the Australian Army, or Do a Transfer from Army? Hey, Im 18 and in the United States Army Reservist. I was a Track Repairer but now I am a Human Resources Specialist. However I am going to college right now to become a Nurse and an Officer. However I dont want to continue my military career in the states but in Australia. Yeah I know its odd but I have never really Settled in one place because my family was military. My Pops is in the military and him and me mums are going back to Germany after he gets out. I want to know if I could join the Australian military. Their special forces unit is remarkable and I can start a new life over there. Settle down and all. I mean I am working on becoming a nurse. Would they allow me to join. I heard Aussie is beautiful and its great out there. I was in sydney one time just for a trip. It was beautiful and I enjoyed the military. I am duel-citizen. I am already messed up. If anyone could help me out I would greatly Appreciate it. Thank you :P Jermal
What is the vision standard for Australian rifleman/commando/sas? Please specify for each. rifleman and commando and sas. in detail please. And someone(even a defence force call centre operator - they don't really know about specific information about medical stuff) says that vision standards for rifleman/commando/sas are all same but i don't believe it at all. special forces can't be the same as normal infantryman even a girl knows that. Can anyone tell me the truth?
special forces military sas? how can i get in to the australian or nz sas?? all the steps,,,,,, if their is anyone who was in the sas , please share your knowlede or leave an email at sasdaniel22@yahoo.com, , i would really like to no everything.
Why is it the USMC seem to believe they are invincible, yet their not Special Forces or Special Ops? Just wondering, because I asked a previous Question, basically comparing the strategic capabilities of an Australian Commando to a US Marine, and stated they were both great! However theres always a few Americans who wrongly try to suggest a Marine is more capable than a Special Ops Commando or even dare say it a Special Air Service Soldier! Wow, how unbelievably misled are they??? No offence, but, the only thing that comes close to being in any way superior to the Australian SAS, is the Brittish 22nd SASR. Marine 5, get your facts straight. In WWII, the Australian National Guard ALONE, got that old man, ALONE haulted the Japanese Army along the Kokoda Trail. The Australian Imperial Force was in Africa and France and England refused to release her. Than the 2nd AIF reached Port Moresby and with the 18th Regiment, pushed the Japs back. Now yes, the the might of the US Navey saved the South Pacific, but your boys couldn't keep up with ours on the ground, in Jungle warfare. Same as i expect in desert warfare, why is it the Australian SAS were the FIRST Special Forces deployed in Iraq, YES THE FIRST, old man! Some of the answers i truelly respect, but not yours, sorry old mate.
Is it true that the Australian Defence Force would have a field day against a hostile Invading Northern Force? I know our RAAF is becoming extroardinarily well equiped in our Region and our Navy and especially Army have several incredibly strong Regiments both Commando, Air Born and Special Forces (SAS). So given our 'Isolation' and massive sea borders and somewhat hostile Northern terrain would our medium-long range missles, RAAF & NAVY Obliterate any hostile Northern Force attempting an Invasion. Would the Royal Australian Regiments decimate a landing Force? Especially given the 'time warning ' the ADF would have against any hostile Force? Thats a very contentious Question 'got any Nukes', a) They wouldn't be needed. b) Its secretely believed we do, we have a Nuclear Reactor in Sydney and were a pioneering Nation in the testing and development of Nuclear Weapons, tested in the remote Northern Territory and South Australia. My Uncle is a Nuclear Technician at the Sydney site, shhhhhhhhhhhhhh ! Wow, its amazing the quality and level of 'qualification' you actually get here! I still wish we had Nukes though....
Special forces medical questions? Hi, this is directed to more the Australian army but I was wondering, what are the vision requirements for the Australian army? Specificlly navy clearance divers? I dont wear glasses full time. I have reading glasses but really only got them because my eyes strained a little when reading, Thats gone now and I havent worn my glasses in almost a year. Im far sighted with slight astigma which basicly means brigher objects have a slight double vision to them, So say I look at white paper, the edge of the paper there will be like a double vision to it. However this does not affect me what so ever in the sence if seeing, And I wouldent imagine it would effect my shooting either, Im willing to wear glasses to join the SF. So what fo you guys think? My vision is either 20/40 or 20/30 which im legaly aloud to drive with that vision... Cheers, lockie i dont want to be a marine, Im not even in America
Why are the US Marines so overated compared to Brittish Marines, Australian Commandos or Australian SAS? Ok, I know the USMC are not Special Forces, but really even compared to other Regular Forces they seem awefully overated! Yes historically speaking they did some amazing things, particularly in the South Pacific, against Japan, but here is the truth the 2nd Australian Imperial Force haulted and defeated the Japanese on the Kokoda Trail just short of Port Moresby, after the English Fortress of Singapore had fallen. So why all the hype about the USMC, other than typical HOLLYWOOD BS? I witnessed USMC training & competing with Australian Commandos & Australian Regular Forces in Sydney and the Aussies were far Superior, so really why the hype?
A question about Australias elite special forces commandos? A while ago i heard the selection course pass rate was 47% for troops already in the Australian army but that was a while ago and now we have a 13 week training program that prepares you for selection and with no more direct entry recruits plus all non infantry recruits must undertake infantry training. With all that does anyone know how this will improve pass rates on the selection course and will we ever see a near 80% pass rate for our 4RAR. My cousin has been placing questions here while i have been away so if you've seen this question before that's why.He is also joining the ADF
Who would win in this contest, US Navy Seals or Australian SAS? Both these special forces are legendary for their toughness, so there's no way I'm going to ask who would win any kind of fight or physical contest, just not going to go there. Which of these would win in a knitting contest? Assume weft knitting with stockinette, 60 minute time limit and 2 spools of yarn.
Why are Australian Soldiers superior to American Soldiers ? Why is it that a small country produces better trained, more disciplined, more effective Soldiers than the worlds only true Super Power, the USA? Yes, the US is a far larger power, however, its always been well documented that man for man Australias troops are superior, in every battle from Papua New Guinea, Borneo, France and the Somme, to Northern Africa, Tobrook, Vietnam, Korea, now Afghanistan and the Middle East. Why is that? Yes the US have the renowned Marine Corp, but Australia has the Commando's and Green Berets of the 4th Royal Australian Regiment, also the Superior SAS. Withought even looking at Special Forces, why are Australian troops superior to the US GI's? I'll get back to you with, qoutes such as General Douglas Macarthur, when asked how many American GI's it would take to defeat the Japanese saying "....give me a Battalion of Australians and this War will be over in months". Numerous news reports and news papar clippings and the fact the US GI's struggled to keep up with their Australian counterparts in the Jungles and beach heads of New Guinea and the Pacific. Buckhunt, why would you say the US is the only voluntary Force in the world, what do you think Australia is? Also your country served under Aussie Command in France in WWII, don't forget it! bfarl33; Your point is true and correct when comparing Canadian Soldiers with American, but definately not with Australians! Aussies particulary respect and like Canadians! Go figure!
Why did I get a violation for this answer? it is a Question.? Question: Question about Canadian Special Forces, please ? Question Details: OK, Is it possible for a man to be both a military physician and a Special Forces operative in the Canadian Forces ? I mean, if this person is actually a military physician and wants to join the Special Forces, does he retain his position as a physician whilst undertaking actual special operations ? Or, does he still remain a physician for the Special Forces operatives and never gets to take part in actual special operations ? Accurate, detailed response will be immensely appreciated. Thank you, God Bless. Tony McGee sir, Thank you very much for your answer. I really appreciate this. You stated: "We had a lot of Canadians and Australians through our ranks and I believe the Canadian Special forces work on the same base as the UK " Does this mean that a Canadian Special Forces operative can also seamlessly work with British SAS and Australian Special Forces as well ? Please enlighten me on this subject. Thank you, God Bless you and your kin. Deleted Answer: uhh..... Since when did Canada get a military? Violation Reason:Not a Question or Answer
Can I Join the sas/commandos if I have laser eye sugery before? I am 19 years old and currently doing an apprenticeship and ill be 22 when I finish. When I finish I want to join the australian army and then the special forces. Only problem is I have to wear glasses for seeing long distances. Can I still do this if I have laser eye surgery and also is 22 years too old to start doing this? I am very fit and active so fitness shouldnt be a problem

"New Australian policy on Muslims" Where did this come from? Its GREAT!!!? Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia, as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks. A day after a group of mainstream Muslim leaders pledged loyalty to Australia and her Queen at a special meeting with Prime Minister John Howard, he and his Ministers made it clear that extremists would face a crackdown. Treasurer Peter Costello, seen as heir apparent to Howard, hinted that some radical clerics could be asked to leave the country if they did not accept that Australia was a secular state, and its laws were made by parliament. "If those are not your values, if you want a country which has Sharia law or a theocratic state, then Australia is not for you", he said on National Television. "I'd be saying to clerics who are teaching that there are two laws governing people in Australia: one the Australian law and another the Islamic law, that is false. If you can't agree with parliamentary law, independent courts, democracy, and would prefer Sharia law and have the opportunity to go to another country, which practices it, perhaps, then, that's a better option", Costello said. Asked whether he meant radical clerics would be forced to leave, he said those with dual citizenship could possibly be asked to move to the other country. Education Minister Brendan Nelson later told reporters that Muslims who did not want to accept local values should "clear off. Basically people who don't want to be Australians, and who don't want, to live by Australian values and understand them, well then, they can basically clear off", he said. Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques Quote: "IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It. I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali, we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians." However, the dust from the attacks had barely settled when the 'politically correct' crowd began complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending others. "I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to Australia. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of Australia being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. And as Australians, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society ... Learn the language! Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture. We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us. If the Southern Cross offends you, or you don't like "A Fair Go", then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. By all means, keep your culture, but do not force it on others. This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'. If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted." Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voting the same truths!

The best army unit in the world.? Reputedly the British S.A.S. is the best in the world, every other army has modeled its special forces on them and comes to them for training. For me only the australian S.A.S. and the Gurkhas come close, what do you think and why? Didnt know much about the israeli special forces but what i read tonight about them they look really good as well Charlie Beckwith Served on exchange with the S.A.S.in the early 60s and on his return to the U.S. set up the Delta force as a copy of the S.A.S.

Question who have served in the australian ADF? Hey guys, i have a couple of questions. 1. my friends cousin was in the SAS but retired because he had back problems, i am 15 at the moment, i weigh 55 KG but i have done the BMI and it is my optimal weight. 2. can you really join the bootcamp at nineteen, or do you have to have some prior military service? 3. am i preparing correctly, i currently lift weights, run and swim. a few details you may need, i weigh 55 KG and i am about 169 cm tall, i do chin-ups, pull-ups and dumbell curls, i can do 10 chin ups, 10 pull ups and i lift around 15 KG at the moment i do cross country, and i beat most people being in the to 5 cross country runners in my school, i will be 16 in 12 days and finally. i have wanted to be in the army all my life, lately i wanted to try my hand at special forces, if i fail boot camp i will try regular, before i try the special forces, i am going to do a gap year as a rifle man, then i will do 3 months of army reserves while doing part time work. Thanks guys that is pretty helpful, and warren i have only watched one movie, black hawk down, i actually already wanted to be in the army before that, i watched BHD because i had read the book "killer elite" and it documented that operation. i have lately always had trouble finding jobs, the only job i have at the moment is basically groundskeeping a 7 acre complex, i wanted to try the special forces because we had a recruitment officer come to our school about it, i have always wanted to join regular really. thk you guys, i'll start doing more chores around the house as well, and unfortunately for me i cannot get into team sports, i try out for them but i never make it onto the team, thats really why i mostly play individual sports. oh and spana, you should love your country more, there are so many people in my generation who don't want to join for those opinions, when there ae army talks at my school of 1500 people only about 15 people go with about five of us seriously wanting to join up, just be thankful for all the crap soldiers have to go through just so that you can have a vote.
i have a question about who is getting sent to Iraq and Afghanistan?? i have a friend who has not long joint the Australian army, though he's currently out of contact range, oh he's a driver as well, am wondering if he will sent to Iraq or Afgan??? but my general thought is that only special forces go there and newer recruits go to east timor instead??
Joining Australian SAS, general help anyone...? I'm getting ready to join the Australian Defense Force as an infantry officer, and as soon as I have completed basic training etc. I will apply for the Special Air Service. Can anybody tell me the mental, academic and physical requirements of the SASR and also what types of excercise/fitness/community work i should be doing to ensure a position in it...?? thanks in advance! also, when i said 'after basic training' i meant more in the time span of 6months to 1 year, ot immediatly. im more interested in knowing the mental, physical and academic requirements/standards they have in the SAS. Thanks so much to everyone who has helped out so far, im pretty nervous, so any help is appreciated A LOT! also, does anybody know what academic standards they have? for example, do you need to have a certain OP or have passed particular subjects in High school?
Australian Defence Force, Rifleman - Glasses? Can you wear Glasses to the ADF for the postion of full time Soldier and if you can wear specs to the ADF does it have to be some kind of special military made glasses? Please can you tell me?
Does anyone(military or police) use the new Steyr AUG A3? Does anyone know if the brand new AUG A3 is in use with any military or law enforcement units, I have only heard rumors. Wikipedia says that GSG9 uses it but I am not so sure about that information. I have heard that it is used in the Irish and Australian armies and that the Austrian army is currently testing it. This would seem logical as they all used the origanal AUG A1. Of course, Australia would produce its own copy from ADI like the original, which seems even more likely as Australia purchased the license to the AUG A3 from Steyr along with Indonesia and New Zealand. (this is very recent, they originally made their own modifications to the AUG, because they didn't have that license) Given the fact that its main upgrade is the numerous picatinny rails, it is probably more suited to a police/special forces weapon instead of a service rifle for the whole military. So......is anyone using it for sure?
