Australian Special Forces

Why do only the Australian Special forces use the M4 instead of the whole Army?

The US army uses only M4's. Also is the F88 Austeyr ( Australian Army's standard rifle) any good and why does Australia use it?

  1. The M-4 is a much better rifle to use in close quarters. Room clearing, fighting in confined spaces and so on. It also caliber for standard NATO ammo 5.56MM which is available in quantity throughout NATO organizations.
  2. As far as I know the rest of the Australian Armed Forces use the Steyar Rifle, which is even more compact than the M-4. Special Forces world wide tend to select their own weapons, to suit their operations.
  3. hi, i think the F88 is a good weapon, coz it fires like a smg but has the power of an assualt rifle, this gun is probably used by the Australian army because of the close quarter fighting and its jungle/urban warfare.
