Police Force?

I live in the UK and I'm interested in becoming a Police Officer, perhaps more focussed on road, motorway and motor vehicle work. What age can I join the force? How much training can I expect? Any other details would be gratefully received.

  1. I work in North America for Interpol and I know for a fact that the UK has a call it cadet or auxiliary system where young aspiring officers can get training and be "on the force" and when they reach legal age to be an officer they are first pick of the litter. Call your local office and inquire
  2. hi my dad is in the police force these days they go through a recruitment day you will find out when your next one is on your areas police website or even from your local station. at the day you will get to speak to them and fill out all the forms needed. they will then go through the process of picking people for interviews this is the tough part if you dont get through to that stage you wont know until roughly 3 months after you applied if you fail you are not allowed to reapply for 6 months which is a bummer but is their policy. training is long its 10 weeks away from home you learn everything you need to know in that 10 weeks and be prepared to come home with bruises lol but its worth it. i think you can be 18 now to join however to get into the road side of things you have to be working as a bobby for a year before you can apply again another one of their rules lol. at the moment they are looking for people who are gay and lesbian ethnic minority and women as they have hardly any so if any of those types apply they will get first pick
  3. So,..you don,t want to get involved with crime..you just want to loll around in patrol cars and give other drivers a bad when your pathetic ego needs boosting? COME ON IN, SON, you,ll fit in a treat, training?, don,t worry about training! We,ll soon fatten you up, and we have got the best "kill rate" in the country!
  4. You need to be 18.5 years of age. No qualifications are necessary. Select the force you would prefer to join and check out their website to see if they are recruiting. You will need to fill out an application form and then hope to be invited to the assessment days. These consist of different tests, and presentations. If you are successful at this stage you have then to pass a fitness and medical. The initial training is in the region of 10 weeks. You then continue having law inputs throughout your two year probation. The fact is that you never stop learning. After you are out of your probation you are free to specialise. I believe you need at least five years as a beat officer to have a basic knowledge of police work. To specialise you need a supervisor to support your application. Competition can be fierce for the few vacancies that crop up from year to year.
  5. Why after reviewing the entire UK job market would you want employment in which your sole purpose would be to make other motorists life a misery? All your friends would disappear and the first time you were called to a fatal smash, the choice would really sink in.
